Mais adwal is a business & finance student at nYU Stern in New York, New York.
Finance and business analytics student at NYU Stern, focused on capital markets, data Science, and the occasional equity story worth writing about. I've worked in oil services, written on AI and energy infrastructure, and built data projects .
Talk to me about marketing, product strategy, equity markets, and real estate. Then about the overpriced Fro-Yo i bought last night.
Wazen Oil Services
June 2025 - august 2025
BP, Cheveron, Shell, and ExxonMobil (also known in industry parlance as “the big guns”) collectively produce over 15 million barrels of oil per day and pulled in a combined $1.3 trillion in revenue in 2024 alone…I didn’t get to work for them, but there are some independents out there worth noting (shout out Wazen!)
I interned in their accounting department over the summer. Needless to say, I got to see two sides of the same coin: people business and math business. I was crunching away on spreadsheets and faxing invoices in some lonely corner of the building but occasionally I’d encounter a client meeting or hear my boss furiously scream into his phone. Good times.
The Venturist
2025 - Present
Everyone's talking about AI. A narrow selection of those people are talking about whether the grid can actually handle it. I wrote about the infrastructure bottleneck nobody in the model race wants to acknowledge — specifically, what explosive compute growth means for energy demand, why nuclear keeps coming up as the answer, and whether it can realistically deliver in time. Published in The Venturist through NYU's Strategic Venture Society.
Independent Data consulting
June 2026 - Present
Most small businesses are sitting on months of transaction data and doing nothing with it. I wanted to see what you could actually find if you took that seriously, so I started approaching local New Orleans businesses, got access to their sales/customer data, and ran the analysis myself.
Pulled the exports into Python for cleaning, used SQL to query and slice the data, built summaries in Excel, visualized the findings in Tableau, etc. etc. Looked for patterns in revenue trends, inventory movement, and sales composition that aren't obvious from just staring at a Shopify dashboard.
Nothing proprietary, just proof that the data is always there if someone bothers to look.
Etc.
2007–2025
Outside of all the fun professional stuff: I read a lot, talk a lot, and walk a lot. I will gladly get into a 30-min unwarranted conversation about why Dan Brown is better than Agatha Christie or why the CHIPS Act subsidizes the wrong part of the semiconductor supply chain. And, yes, I will gladly walk the entirety of Manhattan in a day.
